SINGAPORE, 3rd May 2019 The Singapore Fintech Association (SFA) president and Token Economy Association (TEA SG) chairman, Mr Chia Hock Lai, was conferred the prestigious “Partner of Labour Movement” award at this evening’s May Day Awards 2019, organised by the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).
Hock Lai was the key in the facilitation of SFA becoming an associate affiliate of the NTUC in November 2018, as he strongly believes that the affiliation will allow the association to better take care of the needs and welfare of the industry’s workers by leveraging the strength of a larger NTUC network.
Being in the forefront of the FinTech sector, Hock Lai acknowledges the disruption of technology in the banking and financial sector.
To help workers in the sector better manage and cope with it, he also pushed for SFA to be recognised as a partner of the Banking and Financial Services Union’s (BFSU) Finance Industry Professionals Chapter where both parties collaborate closely to reskill and upskill workers in the sector through training programmes, events and networking sessions.
Hock Lai is instrumental in the implementation of the FinTech Talent Programme, which is co-developed by NTUC, SFA and Singapore Polytechnic. In the five successful runs, the programme has benefited more than 130 aspiring professionals, managers and executives.
